"We went through an entire offseason, we competed, and at the end of the day I did the best I could with the reps that I got and they made a decision to go a different direction," Cassel told the newspaper Friday, a day before he was cut.But the 33-year-old clearly makes for a nice security blanket and potential mentor as he enters his 11th Night net season.To make room for Cassel on the 53-man roster, the Bills released tight end Nick O'Leary, a sixth-round draft pick this year out of Florida State and grandson of golf great Jack Nicklaus.
